SPECIAL TREATS
CREATING

Joy & Comfort in Challenging Times

When someone is living with cancer, life’s priorities can change very quickly. Appointments and treatments begin to fill the diary, and the emotional and financial pressures on both patients and their families can quietly build.

In the middle of all of this, moments of joy and normality can feel harder to come by — yet they are often what people miss, and need, the most.

Creating Lasting Memories

A Special Treat offers something simple but powerful: something to look forward to.

It might be a pause from routine, a chance to relax, or time spent properly together. A meal out becomes a celebration of life. A pampering session offers space to rest and feel cared for. A night away brings a change of scenery and a break from the everyday.

These experiences aren’t just treats in the moment - they become memories that are held onto long after the day itself has passed.

What might a Special Treat look like?

  • A meal out with family or friends

  • A night away or short break

  • Tickets to an event or attraction

  • A pampering or wellbeing experience

Every Special Treat is different, but each one offers the same thing  a moment of joy, connection and normality during a difficult time.

Collaborating for a Cause

Gifted Smile works in partnership with Something to Look Forward To, a wonderful national charity that specialises in matching donated experiences with individuals and families who will benefit most.

They work closely with hospitals, hospices and support organisations to ensure each Special Treat is offered thoughtfully, fairly and at the right time. Together, we’re helping bring these moments of joy to the North.

It’s about helping people feel like themselves again, even for a little while.

If you’re in a position to help, there are a few simple ways you can be part of creating these moments for someone who really needs them.

How you can help

Provide a Special Treat

Sometimes the most meaningful gifts are the ones that can’t be wrapped.

We’re always grateful for people who are willing to offer an experience — whether that’s a meal out, a short break, access to a holiday home, tickets to an attraction, or something else you already have and are happy to share.

It doesn’t have to be grand or expensive. What matters most is the thought behind it, and the opportunity it creates for someone to enjoy a moment of normality, joy and connection.

If you have an idea you’d like to explore, we’d love to hear from you and talk it through together.

Help Create a Special Treat

If you have an experience you’d be willing to offer — big or small — we’d love to hear from you.

It might be something you already have, something you can share at a quieter time, or an idea you’re happy to explore together.

Every Special Treat begins with a simple conversation.
